When I was 12 years-old, I wrote my first letter to the superintendent. I had heard someone say that funding for extracurriculars was in jeopardy, and I couldn’t bear the thought that my favorite program might not exist, so I wrote a letter to the superintendent expressing my concerns and hopes.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve believed that families’ experiences of their school matter, that thriving public schools are essential for strong communities, and that we all have a role to play in the long-term stability of the schools we love.

In part because of my own wonderful public school experience, I went on to pursue a degree in Elementary Education K-6. I taught in Florida public schools before transitioning to many years as a stay-at-home mom, writer, and non-profit professional.

Let's Connect 
When our family moved to District 4 in 2019, we enrolled our oldest son in our neighborhood IPS school. Today, all three of our children attend IPS, and we’re grateful for the exceptional educators, strong special education services, and diverse school communities that have supported our family.
Like so many Indianapolis families, we’ve experienced the challenges of COVID, Rebuilding Stronger, and growing state interference in our local schools. Those experiences have only strengthened my commitment to advocate for IPS and for families who deserve a stable, high-quality, and inclusive public education.
