Lindsey, why school board?
I’m a former public school teacher, and my children have attended IPS district-run schools since we moved to Indianapolis in 2019. We’ve navigated COVID, Rebuilding Stronger, and now the ILEA/IPEC transition, and I know that Indy families are exhausted. I am running for school board because Indianapolis families deserve a commissioner who understands their experiences in IPS and our hopes for its successful, stable, student-focused future.
Why I'm a Write-In Candidate
As a former public school teacher and mom of 3 IPS students, I am committed to serving the families and residents of District 4, and you can vote for me on November 3!
After reviewing a challenge to my candidacy, the Marion County Election Board removed my name from the ballot. I believe the this decision was wrong, and we have filed for judicial review.
But in the meantime, we are continuing forward with our vision of a stable, high-quality school district that serves all Indy students well.
I am now running as a write-in candidate for School Board.
On Election Day, voters can still choose me by typing my name into the designated write-in space on their ballot.
When we first started working on my campaign branding, we chose the pencil element as a nod to me being a writer. We also knew there was a possibility I could end up as a write-in candidate. Now, that pencil represents something even more meaningful: the power of voters to write in the candidate they believe in.
I am thinking about the story we’re writing about the democratic process in Indy. I’m thinking about what it means to write yourself into a process that wasn’t necessarily built with you in mind. I’m thinking about the story I’ll tell my kids about this experience one day.
I stepped forward because I believe our community deserves people who care enough to try. I’m not done trying.

District 4 Priorities
My priorities are grounded in the belief that students must always come first, that public resources should be used responsibly and transparently, and that lasting progress happens when families, educators, and the community work together. By leading with integrity, listening to those most affected by our decisions, and keeping our focus on students, we can build a stronger future for IPS.

Every single Indianapolis child deserves a high-quality public school. We must put students first every step of the way–not realtors, non-profits, school authorizers, or politicians. We need to make data-driven decisions about instruction, continue recruiting the best educators and paying them well, and make good use of community resources and connections.

We must make wise financial decisions, while ensuring that our most vulnerable students remain well-resourced. Years of disinvestment and neglect from our state legislature has forced IPS into a difficult spot, and we can not keep dividing our limited resources among more and more schools. We need a moratorium on new schools so that we can make wise stewardship decisions, ensuring the schools we already have are well-staffed and well-resourced. Meanwhile, parents deserve clear communication about how these decisions are being made and their impacts. Part of this will be insisting on transparency from IPEC and holding them accountable for what they have promised.

Parent representation on our board has been lacking. Between COVID, Rebuilding Stronger, and ILEA/IPEC, parents are exhausted. They deserve a board who hears their concerns and acts accordingly. I commit to stand up against outside influences, make decisions with integrity, listen to community input, and communicate effectively so that IPS becomes a district where every family wants to enroll and every educator wants to work.
